The Ponytail

To me this is one of the most underrated hairstyles. Bring this look out on a bad hair day, a rainy day or any day and you could turn heads. It gives the opportunity to dress a certain part and show a hidden character. it frames the face perfectly, allowing you to show off your make up, jewelry and neckline. it can be used to hide the skin on your back or open up your back to show the details of your outfit without having to keep your hair completely up. A pony tail can be done to create a fun side, a sexy side, it can be formal or athletic. The image that a simple ponytail can portray is entirely up to the creator. Here are some everyday looks that you can try.
If you have curls or waves in your hair, use a round brush and blow dry your hair until it is almost straight, if you already have straight hair toss your hair upside down and blow dry your hair upside down to add in some volume. Comb your hair into a high ponytail with a fine tooth hair comb then tie it with your hairband. Take an inch of your hair from your pony tail and wrap it around the hairband, clip it in with a bobby pin and finish it off by rubbing silicone on the top of the head down to the tips of the pony to remove any frizz. if you have very curly hair you may use a little hair gel on the top to keep it perfectly neat.
Blow dry or iron your hair so that it is very straight, comb your hair using a fine tooth comb and tie hair into a pony on the back of your head. Use hair gel or a soft wax to keep the top looking smooth.
Set your hair in waves using  velcro rollers. Comb your hair into a high ponytail using a hair band, Add a little anti frizz spray to smooth out the hair. Take an inch of hair from your ponytail, twist it around the hair band and finally use a hairspray to hold into place.
Tease the top of your hair until it has a little more height, leave two inches in the front of your hair out, using your round brush softly comb your hair into a low ponytail. take some curling mousse and scrunch it in the back of your pony tail, do the same for the front pieces.

If you are attending an evening function simple adjustments to the everyday ponytail can be a winner.

Use the technique above and tie a satin bow that matches your outfit onto your ponytail

style it up with an accessory and you can set yourself apart

Hair Wave

I love the messy yet clean look. It kind of looks like you effortlessly woke up looking like a sun kissed goddess. I find that waves  highlight the many tones of hair colour. This look can be pulled off dressed up, dressed down, on the beach, to the club or that one special date. The best part of it is that it need not be perfect so if you missed a few pieces during styling, it's absolutely nothing that a sexy hair toss or a little silicone can't hide.

The key to pulling of this look is having a few handy products depending on your hair type. In general you will need a leave in conditioner or a curling mousse, a big round brush, Velcro rollers, hairspray ,silicone, big tooth comb and a hair dryer .

If you have dead straight hair stay away from the leave in conditioner when attempting to make waves or curls, try putting mousse, rough dry your hair, roll your hair in medium size rollers , spritz it with hairspray. let it rest for a few minutes.,use your hair dryer to heat your hair with the rollers on, allow to set for a little while before removing rollers , comb the hair through, use your round brush to blow dry any fringe or front pieces to your preference and finally run a drop of silicone through your hair.

If your hair is already wavy, take your leave in conditioner, scrunch your hair, blow dry the front pieces with your round brush. allow to dry or use a diffuser, spray hairspray and apply silicone right to the tips of your hair to prevent any frizz.

For curly hair follow the sequence of straight hair only use a leave in conditioner to soften the curl and use big rollers to set the waves.

If you are still figuring out this look try adding a hair band or an accessory to play it up a little.
Whichever you decide own it and work it!
